CLASSES
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
At Uprising MMA, our Strength and Conditioning program prepares athletes for the physical demands of combat sports. We organize our workouts into 4- to 6-week cycles so you can track steady progress toward your goals. Each session blends a variety of training methods—including weightlifting, yoga, breathing drills, isometric holds, calisthenics, and cardio—to build total-body fitness.
What to Bring
For class, wear breathable clothing that lets you move freely. While we train barefoot on the mats, we often step outside or use stationary bikes, so bring running or lifting shoes just in case.
What You’ll Gain
Our program delivers results that go beyond the gym:
Stronger muscles and joints – Regular lifting boosts power, stability, and injury resistance.
Better mobility – Mobility work increases your flexibility and range of motion.
Sharper coordination – Precise drills improve reflexes and hand-eye control.
Greater confidence – Mastering new skills builds self-esteem and mental toughness.
Competition edge – We condition you for the intensity of real matches.
Heart health and endurance – Cardio training strengthens your heart and stamina.
Athletic discipline – Our structured classes build focus, responsibility, and consistency.
Whether you’re a beginner or a competitor, this program develops the athleticism you need to excel in your sport.
BOXING
At Uprising MMA, our Boxing classes deliver a high-energy workout that torches calories and conditions your entire body. Each session focuses on combination drills—jab, cross, hook, and uppercut—thrown on our 100-pound heavy bags. You’ll work at your own pace while one of our experienced coaches guides you through every move, offering real-time feedback to sharpen your technique. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned striker, our classes are challenging, supportive, and built for all skill levels.
What to Bring
Wear comfortable, stretchable workout clothing that allows full movement. For equipment, you’ll need:
Boxing gloves – 16 oz or 12 oz (rentals available)
Hand wraps (rentals also available)
Footwear – wrestling shoes or barefoot (sandals recommended for transitions)
What You’ll Gain
Stronger muscles and better stamina – High-intensity rounds build power and cardiovascular endurance.
Sharper coordination – Precise punch combinations improve hand-eye speed and reflexes.
Total-body fitness – Every session engages your arms, core, back, and legs.
Stress relief – Focusing on the bag helps clear your mind and release tension.
A genuinely fun workout – The energy, rhythm, and variety make each class feel less like a chore and more like a sport.
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling art built on ground fighting, leverage, and technique. It empowers smaller individuals to defend themselves against larger, stronger attackers by using joint locks, chokeholds, and positional control instead of brute force. In BJJ, practitioners work to secure dominant positions—like mount or back control—then apply submissions such as chokes, arm locks, and leg locks to force an opponent to “tap out.”
At Uprising MMA, our BJJ classes welcome all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned grapplers. Our qualified instructors break down every technique, drilling session, and positional progression step-by-step. You’ll also get to test your skills in supervised sparring (rolling) sessions, where you can apply what you’ve learned in a safe, controlled environment. Expect to build real strength, stamina, coordination, and practical self-defense ability—all while laying a solid technical foundation.
What to Bring
Gi (kimono) – A traditional heavy-cotton jacket and pants (required for class).
Shorts – Wear them under your gi pants for comfort and hygiene.
Rash guard – A lightweight undershirt that prevents skin irritation from fabric friction.
Sandals – Wear these off the mat to keep the training area clean; remove them before stepping onto the mat.
What You’ll Gain
Full-body fitness – Every session builds strength, endurance, and mobility.
Sharper coordination – Precise movements improve reflexes and body awareness.
Real self-defense skills – Learn practical techniques that work in live situations.
Greater confidence – Mastering new skills and overcoming challenges boosts self-esteem.
A genuine sense of progress – Advancing through belts and ranks gives you a clear path of personal growth and accomplishment.
MUAY THAI
Muay Thai—Thailand’s legendary martial art—is known as the “art of 8 limbs” because it turns fists, elbows, knees, shins, and feet into weapons. This stand-up striking system also incorporates clinching techniques, making it one of the most complete striking arts on the planet. Training is physically intense and typically includes running, shadowboxing, jump rope, bodyweight drills, medicine ball work, abdominal exercises, and weight training. It demands toughness, cardiovascular endurance, and serious mental grit.
At Uprising MMA, our Muay Thai classes welcome all skill levels—from first-timers to experienced fighters. Our seasoned instructors guide you through heavy bag drills, Thai pad work, partner exercises, and controlled sparring sessions. Every class sharpens your technique while pushing your conditioning to new levels, so you leave stronger, faster, and more confident in your striking.
What to Bring
Workout clothing – Comfortable, breathable gear that allows full range of motion.
Boxing gloves – 16 oz or 12 oz (rentals available).
Hand wraps – Essential for wrist and knuckle protection (rentals also available).
Footwear – Wrestling shoes or barefoot on the mat; sandals recommended for transitions off the mat.
What You’ll Gain
Explosive strength and stamina – High-intensity rounds build muscle power and cardiovascular endurance.
Sharpened coordination – Complex combinations of punches, kicks, elbows, and knees improve reflexes and body control.
JUDO
Judo is a modern martial art, an Olympic sport, and a disciplined combat system that originated in Japan. Instead of punches or kicks, Judo uses throws, takedowns, pins, joint locks, and chokes to control or subdue an opponent. What makes it truly unique is its reliance on balance, leverage, and momentum—allowing a smaller person to overcome a larger opponent with maximum efficiency and minimal effort.
At Uprising MMA, our Judo classes are open to all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced grapplers. Our knowledgeable instructors guide you through every session—starting with warm-ups and cool-downs, then moving into fundamental throwing techniques (nage-waza) and ground work (ne-waza). You’ll build physical fitness, sharp reflexes, and a deep understanding of body mechanics in a supportive, structured environment.
What to Bring
Judo uniform (judogi) – A durable, heavy-cotton jacket and pants designed to withstand gripping and throwing.
What You’ll Gain
Functional strength and stamina – Repeated throws and drills build muscle power and cardiovascular endurance.
Superior balance and coordination – Precise footwork and body control improve agility and spatial awareness.
Full-body fitness – Every session engages your core, legs, back, and arms.
Mental clarity and stress relief – The focus required to execute techniques clears the mind and releases tension.
A uniquely rewarding experience – The blend of tradition, technique, and physical challenge makes Judo both fun and deeply satisfying.
